Who is living in the Convent?
Many visitors of Vierzehnheiligen are asking:
"Who is living behind these magnificent walls?"
Until the secularization in 1803 the Cistercians who were in charge of the pilgrimage had to leave. In 1839 King Ludwig I. of Bavaria ordered the Franciscan friars of the Bavarian province to care for the pilgrims. Since this time many Fathers and Brothers came and left to look after the pilgrims: in the confessionals, in dialogues, in divine services, on tours of inspection showing the church, as organ-players, sacristans, cooks, gardeners etc.

Father Ernst Fischer returned to Vierzehnheiligen since September 2007. Until 2004 he was Spiritual of the Franciscan Sisters of Vierzehnheiligen.
Together with Brother Paul Plank at the door we are 7 Franciscanians at Vierzehnheiligen.
