Report of a miracle

In summer 1944 a worried mothe reports:

Last year a close friend of mine was going to be grandmother at the age of 61. Before the baby was born she told me that she was worried about her son and her daughter-in-law because they thought that after the birth of the child everything would go on without effort as before. Her daughter-in-law intended to take up her job immediately without having a break. So - indeed - the future grandmother was deeply worried. But she got even more sorrowful:

Wunder

The baby was born and was ill. The doctors could not find any organic cause but nevertheless the baby felt worse and worse. Amid tears the grandmother told me about it. I hardly could comfort her. Next Sunday I visited a divine service at Vierzehnheiligen and lightened a candle for the baby. During the mass I centred completely upon the little creature. I prayed that - if the baby did not want o live for the parents - it should at least live for the grandmother.

Next Wednesday I met my friend again and I was worried that the baby might have died. But the baby was alive. Nobody could explain it. The mother told me that on last Sunday the doctors had given up the child. The doctors had told the parents that they did not see any chance for the baby to survive. My friend was sitting in the hospital crying and praying. Afterwards, in the late Sunday morning while I had been at Vierzehnheiligen, her son came and said," mum, the baby suddenly is feeling somehow better. We do not know why."

The doctors had not found out what was really wrong with the baby giving up all hope on this Sunday morning. But from this very moment the baby's health improved visibly. The child is now alright.

I must say that I was overwhelmed by this message. Of course I do not know and never will really know whether this sudden improvement exactly at this time was caused by my prayers at Vierzehnheiligen, but who can tell ? At any rate I am grateful and happy because the grandmother would have been very sad having lost her first grandchild.

(Name and address are known to the convent.)
